Masih berkaitan dengan artikel Petunjuk Penyimpanan Bahan Makanan. Coba perhatikan kemasan makanan yang anda beli. Di sana selalu tercantum tanggal. Sebenarnya apa sih arti tanggal-tanggal tersebut?
"Sell by" means the store should sell the product by the printed date, but the product still can be safely eaten by the consumer.
"Best if used by" means the consumer should use the product by the date listed for best quality and flavor (not for safety reasons).
"Use by" or "expires" means the product should be used by consumers by the date listed; you are likely to see a marked deterioration in product quality and safety after that date.
Ternyata beda-beda ya pengertiannya. Saya selama ini hanya mencari tahu expired date-nya saja pada kemasan. Kadang saat menemukan bahan makanan impor, bingung juga kok ada istilah 'sell by'. Atau kalau membaca 'best if used by', saya kira sama saja dengan 'expires' atau 'use by', ternyata berbeda di alasannya.
Nambah pengetahuan baru lagi.
